Allure Flooring Installation – Steps and Tips

Making the Preparations

There are a lot of things that you need to consider prior to buying and installing this type of flooring such as the following:

  • Area – Prior to installing allure flooring, it is highly important that you know the measurements of the space where you wish to put in the flooring. This will help you identify how much of this flooring you will have to buy. Once you have determined the size, it is advised to add 10% to the total measurement to make room for discoloured planks or anything that may be lost or damaged during the installation process.
  • 48 hour waiting time - You cannot just install this flooring once you got it from the store. You need to wait for at least 48 hours before installing them to acclimate it to the humidity and temperature of your home.
  • Material - You need to know that allure flooring can be installed over different materials such as linoleum, wood, tile, concrete and even vinyl.
  • Floor compound - Prior to installation to a textured surface or tiled area, make sure that you spread adequate amounts of levelling compound.
  • Ridges and bumps - With the use of hammer, remove any ridges and bumps so it will not be visible through the floor surface.

The Installation Process

Once you have prepared all the necessary things, you can now begin installing allure flooring. Essentially, you need to begin with the most visible or longest wall within the space. After which, you can proceed with the following steps:

  • Cut the top connector of the first plank with the aid of a utility knife and put the smooth edge and make it face against  the wall
  • Make room for expansion by leaving 1/8” gap between the flooring and the wall
  • Put the next row to about 45 degrees angle and glide it to place with the use of GripStrip connectors.
  • Proceed with the installation across the floor and totter the joints of every row by about half a foot.
  • Run the floor roller all throughout the surface in order to eliminate the air or bubbles from the surface of the allure flooring.
  • Add the molding or trim across the surface to plaster the expansion gap that can be found on the bottom part of the wall.
